If you already own the Animal Crossing: New Leaf game, you can download a free update that includes all of the new features and amiibo functionality from the packaged version of Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Welcome amiibo.

A Friend Code is a series of 12 numbers used to allow access to another player's town during online play via Wi-Fi. A friend code consists of three sets of four-digit numbers separated by hyphens; 1234-5678-9876, for example. In November, this update content will be added to the original game in a new packaged version called Animal Crossing™: New Leaf—Welcome amiibo. And on December 2nd, 50 new Animal Crossing: New Leaf amiibo cards will also become available for purchase.
