Delphi Serial Communication Component

Serial communication

Hi

I need to know how to make a Delphi serial communications component or get
hold of one that has already been made.

I also need to know how to input/output serially through Turbo Pascal 7.0
I think the Port command is used.
I need to communicate between two programs on two different computers - one
running Windows 95 and my program written in Delphi and the other a DOS
based operating system running a program written in Turbo Pascal 7.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re:Serial communication

In TP 7 you can use the port command, but it's unreliable at over 300
baud (and that is SLOW, I didn't make a typo). I made an assembler
routine to read the port, but found even that could drop characters at
higher baud rates. I had no option in the end but to purchase add on
serial drivers. Asynch professional (I think thats it) made that, they
also make serial drivers for Delphi.

Re:Serial communication

Hi Kingsley,
You could try AsyncPro from TurboPower. IMHO both the company and the
product are excellent. I have used AsyncPro on a couple of projects and
found it easy to use, well documented, well supported and just generally a
top quality product. (I have no links whatever with TurboPower) Check out
their website at www.turbopower.com (I think).

Regards,
ed.
